Investors Unite Teleconference: Update on Oral Arguments and Unsealed Documents
WASHINGTON, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, April 26th at 2:00pm EDT, Investors Unite Executive Director Tim Pagliara will host a teleconference to update Investors Unite members on how recent developments should strengthen Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac shareholders' legal challenge of the Net Worth Sweep.
The discussion will feature a summary of the April 15th oral arguments presented in the appeal of U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth's 2014 dismissal of Fairholme Funds Inc.'s suit. Participants will also provide analysis of how documents unsealed by U.S. Court of Federal Claims Judge Margaret Sweeney just prior to oral arguments have greatly eroded the credence of the government's assertion that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in a "death spiral" at the time the Sweep was announced.
Pagliara will be joined by Hamish Hume, one of the attorneys who argued on behalf of plaintiffs, who will provide first-hand insights on the impact these recent developments could have in subsequent steps in the litigation.
"The newly unsealed documents enabled plaintiff's counsel to make an even more compelling case that the Sweep was a clear violation of law and an unconstitutional taking of private property," said Pagliara.
