IPSO Alliance to Discuss 'Securing IP Smart Objects' in Free Webinar
Speakers from member companies Atmel, Dust Networks, and Mocana
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The IPSO Alliance, the organization defining the "Internet of Things," today announced a free webinar titled "Securing IP Smart Objects." The 60-minute live session, scheduled for March 1st at 9 a.m. PST, includes speakers from Atmel, Dust Networks, and Mocana.
The increasing number of smart objects creates new opportunities for hackers to disrupt services, steal sensitive information, and commit fraud. IPSO's webinar will focus on smart object applications and relevant threats as well as evaluate at a high-level different approaches to secure against these threats. It will also offer some practical guidelines for building security into sensitive applications such as health care, and discuss some misconceptions about securing these devices.
"Confidentiality, integrity and authentication are some of the most important data security concerns for smart objects," said Kurt Stammberger, chairman of IPSO's Security Committee. "Thinking about smart object security early pays off in compelling ways, ensuring trust and enabling personalization, automation and context intelligent policy enforcement when these objects are fully 'operationalized' and integrated into the day to day operations of an organization. IPSO and its Security Working Group are out in front and doing really interesting and relevant work helping to secure the Internet of Things."
Webinar speakers include:
- Geoff Mulligan – IPSO's chairman
- Colin O'Flynn – Low-Power Wireless Division, Atmel
- Kris Pister – Founder and Chief Technologist, Dust Networks
- Kurt Stammberger, CISSP – VP Market Development, Mocana
Attendees can ask questions at the end of the presentations.
