Jared Ruger Receives 40 Under 40 Award

SAN MATEO, Calif., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jared Ruger, Partner at Bertram Capital, has been recognized by The M&A Advisor as a winner in its annual "40 Under 40" award program.  Jared was honored at a black tie awards gala at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles on May 31st.  The M&A Advisor's 40 Under 40 Award Program recognizes leading mergers and acquisitions, financing and turnaround professionals who have reached a significant level of success in the industry while still under the age of 40.  The winners were selected by an independent committee comprised of business leaders from the mergers and acquisitions industry.

Jared Ruger oversees Bertram Capital's investments in the Business Services and Technology sectors.  Jared was a founding member of the Bertram team in 2006 and was promoted to his current position of Partner in 2010.  Jared is actively involved in Bertram Capital's fundraising efforts and was instrumental in Bertram closing its second fund in 2010, when the firm successfully raised $500M in Limited Partner commitments.

Over the past five years, Jared has completed two platform company investments and four add-on transactions for Bertram Capital, and serves as the investment lead for Author Solutions, Inc. and Spireon (formerly ProconGPS).  Jared's guidance at Author Solutions has contributed to a more than four-fold increase in revenue in five years.  He has successfully led three add-on acquisitions for the company, conceptualized several new products and developed key partnerships with major traditional publishers.  Jared is also responsible for overseeing Bertram's investment in Spireon, the leading provider of mobile resource management and asset tracking solutions to the fleet management and subprime automobile lending industries.  Jared's work enabled the merger of ProconGPS and Enfotrace, which together formed Spireon. The Spireon transaction was honored by The M&A Advisor with the awards for Professional Services Deal of the Year and Information Technology Deal of the Year in 2011. 

Prior to Bertram Capital, Jared worked for Oak Hill Capital Management where he evaluated investment opportunities across a broad range of industries.  Prior to Oak Hill, Jared worked as a generalist in the Investment Banking group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.  Jared received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors from Princeton University and earned an MBA from The Stanford Graduate School of Business.  In addition to his busy work schedule, Jared is actively involved in several charitable organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and City Impact.
