PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Jive Software was one of the four companies showcased during the launch of the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) sFund (social fund). The $250 million KPCB sFund initiative was unveiled at a media gathering at the Facebook headquarters on Thursday, October 21.

The KPCB sFund will serve as the leading venture investor in a new wave of applications and services built on social networks. With this fund, KPCB is looking for entrepreneurs and innovators who are reimagining and reinventing the Internet on social platforms.

"Jive is a great example of the type of investments the sFund is targeting," said Bing Gordon, KPCB partner who is leading the sFund. "Jive is a clear leader in the rapidly growing social business space, with their fast-growing developer ecosystem and a high-profile customer base. We are excited about KPCB's investment in Jive, as they drive the new way that work gets done in the enterprise."

Jive looks forward to welcoming fellow KPCB companies into its leading social business platform, Jive Apps Market. The Jive Apps Market is the only platform where adoption of business applications for the enterprise can be socially driven. Developers will be able to rapidly build social business applications using the OpenSocial framework.

There is strong momentum behind the Jive Apps Market. This is evidenced by the developer turnout at its annual customer event JiveWorld10, which took place in September, where Jive hosted the first Jive Apps developer event.  More than 60 developers have committed to building Jive Apps to date.

"The social revolution is migrating from the consumer to the enterprise and is the way of the future," said Tony Zingale, Jive CEO. "The KPCB sFund will help accelerate the adoption of social business in the enterprise. Our partnership with KPCB will enable Jive and our developer partners to become the innovation engine for the social enterprise and drive the new way to business."
