Johnsonville Calls on Nation to Identify and Celebrate the "Best of US"

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis., April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnsonville Sausage today announced the launch of the "Best of US" contest – a nationwide call to identify the individuals, groups and events that reflect the American spirit. Now through May 13, Johnsonville is inviting people from around the country to submit nominations in two categories – Educators and Community Celebrations – that personify the values of America and make this country great.

In a recent nationwide survey of Americans, more than 89 percent of respondents believe that volunteering is essential to establishing and maintaining strong, well-knit communities.  Johnsonville has always felt a duty to give back – whether it's through volunteerism or financial support. The Best of US provides an opportunity to recognize and reward those making their respective communities a better place.

Best of US nominations will be accepted now through May 13. A panel of judges will then narrow the entries to the final 20 within each category from which the public can vote online between May 21 and June 13 for the top 10 Best of US. The nomination receiving the highest number of votes in each category will earn a grand prize of $10,000 with the additional nine finalists receiving $1,000.
