NEW YORK, July 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- JW Player, a leading digital and mobile video solutions company, today announced the addition of more than 3,700 new customers, including 1,089 enterprise deals, making the first half of 2015 its most successful sales period to-date. New to the company's customer roster are some of the world's leading content creators and media brands across a range of industry verticals, including gaming, sports, music, and technology, spanning more than 112 countries. 31 percent of new customers are located in Europe, 14 percent in Asia, and five percent in Latin America.
Powering the world's largest open video ecosystem, JW Player's newest customers help further expand its global footprint, with an average of 1.2 billion unique monthly viewers (double its volume from the same time last year). More than 126 million, or about 10 percent, of the total unique monthly views can be attributed to the new accounts won during the first half of 2015. Also, there were 3.3 billion ad impressions served in June, more than double the impressions in 2014. Approximately 1.13 billion, or about 36 percent, of these monthly ad impressions can be attributed to new accounts won during the first half of 2015. Finally, JW Player viewers watch more than 700 million hours of video each month, 2.5 times more time than the same period the previous year.
JW Player's rapid growth comes as companies of every size and scale increasingly turn toward online and mobile video as a strategic priority. Customers choosing JW Player cited the solution's seamless viewer experience across all platforms, especially mobile.
"Our JW Player solution has always been a good fit with major companies that recognize the value of online video. As more companies implement a holistic online video strategy, we are seeing them turn away from our competitors and embrace JW Player as the premier video solution. In the past six months alone, over 20 percent of the new business we signed were takeaways from a competitor," says Chris Mahl, President of JWPlayer.
Mahl continued, "Through our JW Everywhere philosophy, we help publishers power advanced video solutions everywhere consumers watch video including on the exploding mobile space. Mobile is the obvious future for online video, as evidenced through expert panels at our annual JW INSIGHTS conference. Our commitment to mobile is reflected in our release of iOS and Android SDKs earlier this year."
With its range of white-labeling options and robust suite of monetization, audience discovery and analytics tools, JW Player is the video platform powering an open video ecosystem model designed to meet the needs of modern publishers and brands. With JW Player, customers have complete control over the look and feel of their video player, providing a high-quality, branded experience for consumers.
