Midwest equipment dealer retains experienced local team and opens 17,000-sq-ft facility to serve growing regional construction and rental demands.
KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- KanEquip JCB is expanding its presence in the Kansas City region, opening a new dealership facility following Trane Technologies' acquisition of CSTK and its decision to exit the retail equipment market.
CSTK (Central States Thermo King), a family-owned business for roughly 50 years, expanded into JCB equipment in 2014. Following CSTK's acquisition by Trane Technologies, KanEquip stepped in to maintain local JCB representation and recruited the experienced sales, parts, and service staff who originally built CSTK's JCB operation.
"Honestly, I was not interested in opening a JCB location in Kansas City if the employees did not want to continue," said Grant Meinhardt, Vice President and General Manager of KanEquip JCB. "Their positive response played a significant role in the company's decision to pursue the Kansas City territory."
KanEquip currently operates 14 locations across Kansas, five of which have represented the JCB brand since 2019. After presenting a business plan to JCB USA, KanEquip received approval to recruit the former CSTK team and secure a permanent facility in Kansas City.
Strategic Location for Regional Growth
Located at 3550 Fairbanks Ave., Kansas City, KS 66106, the new facility spans 4.45 acres and features a 17,000-square-foot shop equipped with nine drive-through service bays. The site accommodates large machinery—including excavators, and wheel loaders—and offers central access across the metro area.
Meinhardt noted that the site's central location will be critical for supporting major regional infrastructure and commercial projects, including stadium developments for the Chiefs and Royals, as well as supporting major rental partners like United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, Equipment Share, and Blue Hat.
Operational Rollout & Grand Opening
The KanEquip JCB team is transitioning from its location at 401 Shawnee and plans to be open for business at the new Fairbanks Avenue facility in mid-September 2026.
Initial operations will focus on shop service while the company builds out a new retail customer showroom for parts, equipment sales, and JCB merchandise. A formal Grand Opening celebration is planned for Spring 2027.
