Keep Music Alive Spotlights "Drum on Anything" for Music Education to Celebrate Kids Music Day this October

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- This Kids Music Day, Keep Music Alive is inviting people across the country to grab anything they can find and start drumming. The nonprofit's "Drum on Anything" Challenge is a fun, social media-driven campaign encouraging musicians, students, families and music fans of all ages to post a short video of themselves "drumming ON anything WITH anything" while helping raise awareness and support for music education. Inspired by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, participants are asked to use #DrumOnAnything, tag three friends to take part, and either share their own video or make a donation to a music education nonprofit of their choice. Music education organizations nationwide are also encouraged to use the challenge to engage supporters and raise funds for their own programs.

More than 1,200 locations across all 50 U.S. states, Canada and 15 additional countries are expected to participate in the 11th Annual Kids Music Day, with special events and promotions designed to celebrate and support children making music. Kids Music Day activities will take place from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, October 11. Families in the United States and Canada can find participating events in their area by entering their ZIP or postal code on the locator page at KidsMusicDay.org. International participants can find events by scrolling below the map and selecting their country's flag.

Kids Music Day events will feature a wide variety of hands-on and family-friendly activities, including musical instrument petting zoos, student performances, free trial music lessons, kids open mics, ukulele, drum and guitar circles, instrument donation drives, special Kids Music Day promotions and more. These activities are designed to give children more opportunities to experience the joy of making music while highlighting the importance of music education in communities around the world.

13-year-old violinist Sabrina Patel returns as Kids Music Day Spokesperson this year as she continues her quest to perform the National Anthem at major events in all 50 states.  Currently young Sabrina is 90% complete on her quest having performed in 45 States at major sporting and other events. Major league sports teams welcoming Sabrina so far include MLB's Texas Rangers (ALCS Playoffs), Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, NBA's Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks and WNBA's Connecticut Sun
