Keller Postman Files Lawsuit Against Philadelphia Medical Providers for Coercive Gender Surgery and Lack of Informed Consent

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Keller Postman filed a lawsuit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of Drew Razny and his wife, Amanda Razny, against several Philadelphia-area medical providers including the Mazzoni Center, Delaware Memorial Community Hospital, Delaware Valley Aesthetics (Rumer Cosmetic Surgery), and Dr. Kathy L. Rumer. The suit alleges that the defendants violated fundamental standards of medical ethics by coercing Mr. Razny into irreversible surgery without proper evaluation or valid informed consent. 

Mr. Razny initially sought counseling in 2017 but was diagnosed with gender dysphoria after a 20-minute consultation and placed on hormone treatment without adequate medical or psychiatric assessment. Over the following years, staff encouraged him to undergo surgeries, assuring him that the procedures were safe and reversible. In 2021, Dr. Rumer allegedly pressured Mr. Razny into genital surgery. On the day of the procedure, despite his explicit objections and request to speak with his wife, he was sedated and operated on against his wishes. 

The Raznys contend that this course of treatment caused severe physical, emotional, and relational harm, including permanent bodily changes, loss of employment, psychological trauma, and a devastating impact on their family's life.

The Raznys are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as accountability measures to prevent other families from experiencing similar harm. The complaint asserts claims for negligence, lack of informed consent, breach of fiduciary duty, health care liability, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
