Kellogg Company Announces $7.3 Million Contribution to United Way

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kellogg Company announced today that its annual United Way campaign generated a record-breaking $7.3 million to benefit initiatives in education, income, health and other basic needs across the U.S.

"Kellogg employees, retirees and Board members enthusiastically support United Way because we see the value of their collaborative work with partner agencies and initiatives to build and sustain a vibrant community."

The gift exceeded the company's campaign goal by 14 percent and includes individual pledges, as well as Kellogg dollar-for-dollar match of all pledges and fundraisers.

"With their support, we are transforming lives by improving education, financial stability and health for those who need it most."

During this year's campaign, 34 company locations reported year-on-year increased donations of 10 percent or more; eight of these locations reported increases of more than 100 percent. In addition, more than 1,500 Kellogg employees put their commitment to work through United Way's Days of Caring service projects to benefit nearly 25 nonprofit organizations in their local communities.

In 2010, Kellogg received United Way's Spirit of America Award for overall philanthropy, the organization's highest recognition.
