Kellogg Company Provides Disaster Relief in Response to Hurricane Harvey
More than a million servings of Kellogg cereal and other products are headed to Feeding America food banks
BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Aug. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kellogg Company Fund, the charitable arm of Kellogg Company, today announced it will commit $100,000 to support disaster relief efforts following the devastating floods in Texas. These funds will support Feeding America and aid the surrounding Gulf Coast region since Hurricane Harvey made landfall late Friday as a Category 4 storm.
The recent storms left massive damage throughout the state of Texas, resulting in hundreds of families losing their homes and all of their belongings.
"Like the rest of Americans, we at Kellogg are heartbroken to see the devastating impact this storm has had on the people of Texas," said Kris Charles, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs. "Our shelf-stable products provide important nourishment and comfort for families whose lives have been uprooted. We will continue to help those affected by this terrible storm."
Kellogg Company has also already sent more than a million servings of Kellogg's Rice Krispies® cereal, Kellogg's Corn Pops® cereal, Pop-Tarts®, Kellogg's Nutri-Grain® cereal bars, Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats®, Cheez-It®, Bear Naked® granola and various cookie and cracker varieties to the Houston Food Bank. This food bank is part of the Feeding America network. Additional product may be identified going forward as the ongoing need is assessed.
Disaster relief efforts such as these are part of Kellogg's global Breakfasts for Better Days™ initiative addressing food insecurity. Since 2013, Kellogg has donated more than 2 billion servings of cereal and snacks.
