Burdick has more than 25 years of experience in managed healthcare, including senior leadership positions with UnitedHealthcare/UNITEDHEALTH GROUP, Coventry Health Care, CIGNA and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.
Most recently, Burdick was the President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. Previously he was the CEO of the Medicaid Division and CEO of MHNet for Coventry Health Care.
During his 14 years with UNITEDHEALTH GROUP, Burdick achieved significant success in local, regional and national roles. While CEO at SecureHorizons/UNITEDHEALTH GROUP, he and his executive team redesigned the distribution strategy, upgraded management talent and simplified the product portfolio. During his tenure as CEO for UnitedHealthcare/UNITEDHEALTH GROUP, Burdick championed an innovative leadership development program to facilitate the emergence of a more engaging, collegial and open leadership culture.
Burdick presently serves on the Board of Directors for Preferred Homecare and PASR, a non-profit Board advancing school readiness throughout Minnesota. From 2001 to 2010, he served on the United Way (Twin Cities and Phoenix) Board of Directors.
For more than a decade Burdick has been a staunch advocate for early childhood education, devoting his time and talent to organizations with this mission. In addition to his current role at PASR, he was previously on the Board of Minnesota Early Learning Foundation (MELF) and was the Chair for the Greater Phoenix Leadership's Early Education Committee. Burdick was appointed by Governor Napolitano to serve as Board Chairman for the Arizona Early Education Funds. He was the keynote speaker for the 2007 Partnership for America's Economic Success National Conference in Washington, D.C.
Burdick earned his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude in American Studies) from Amherst College in 1980 and a law degree from University of Connecticut School of Law in 1985. He and his family reside in Minnesota.
