Key4Women Appoints Prominent Women Business Owners and Leaders to National Advisory Board
Business Owners Share Expertise, Viewpoints with Bank
CLEVELAND, May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Key4Women, a KeyBank program for women in business, has appointed a prominent group of successful women business owners and experts to its National Advisory Board. The board is comprised of 23 women business owners, leaders and experts from a cross section of industries across Key's footprint. It includes representatives from the Women Presidents' Organization, the Center for Women's Business Research, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), ForbesWoman and St. Mary's College Entrepreneurship Initiative.
Originally formed in 2006, the advisory board informs the Key4Women program to understand new challenges women business owners and leaders face in today's economy. It also offers these women an opportunity to share experiences and offer advice to one another. The insights garnered from advisory board members help drive Key4Women's strategy and program enhancements.
According to the Center for Women's Business Research, 10 million firms are majority-owned by women. As of 2008, these firms accounted for 40 percent of all privately held companies, employing more than 13 million people and generating $1.9 trillion in sales.
"Our advisory board is an important and ongoing way for Key to understand women business owners and leaders, their challenges and their needs in today's economy. As a result, we keep our program fresh, relevant and responsive to help leaders face and address opportunities in their businesses," said Maria Coyne, founder of Key4Women and head of Key's Business Banking segment.
