KeyCorp CEO Mooney Named Most Powerful Woman in Banking for Second Year

CLEVELAND, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Beth Mooney, CEO and chairman of KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY), received the top spot on American Banker Magazine's esteemed "The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking" list for the second year in a row. The honor comes on the heels of Mooney being named one of Fortune's "50 Most Powerful Women in Business," on September 18.

In addition to Mooney, American Banker recognizes three other KeyCorp executives with their annual Women in Banking awards. Maria Coyne, Key's EVP and branch network executive, was ranked number 18 on the publication's "The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking" list, and Amy Brady, chief information officer at KeyCorp, was ranked number six on the publication's "The 25 Women to Watch" list. Margot Copeland, Key's Director of Philanthropy and Civic Engagement will receive American Banker's Community Impact Award.

KeyCorp's honorees are being recognized for their significant contributions to the organization in the past year. Award applicants are evaluated on a number of criteria, including scope of her job, innovation brought to her role and influence both within and outside her institution. The women who are included in American Banker's annual lists are the most influential female leaders in the banking and finance sectors.

Mooney, who is the first woman to lead a top 20 U.S. bank, joined KeyCorp in 2006 as the top executive of the bank's then-14-state Community Bank. She became CEO in 2011, launching significant and strategic change to position KeyBank for continued growth. In her role as CEO, Mooney leads a workforce of 14,000 employees and is responsible for the bank's two million clients and approximately $92 billion in assets.

Since joining KeyCorp in 2001, Coyne has emerged as a prominent thought leader in consumer and small business banking, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for women as the founder of Key4Women. She is responsible for the creation, development and execution of the sales, service and operation of Key's Consumer and Small Business Retail network, which spans more than 1,000 branches and 1,300 ATMs in 12 states.

Brady joined KeyCorp in 2012 as the CIO and leads the firm's Enterprise Technology and Operations organization. In her role, Brady is responsible for the technology, operations, security, data and procurement functions for Key, leading a team of more than 4,500 individuals in order to provide innovative technology and extraordinary service to clients.

Copeland, who joined KeyBank in 2001 as the director of Corporate Diversity and Philanthropy, currently leads the KeyBank Foundation. Through her work, she guides the company's strategic philanthropic investments in workforce development, financial education and diversity programs that help communities achieve economic self-sufficiency. Under her leadership, Key gives an average of $18 million annually to nonprofit organizations, in the form of philanthropy, corporate contributions, and volunteerism.
