LOS ANGELES, April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On May 5th, KinderUSA will host its tenth annual Fundraising Banquet Dinner at the Hilton Long Beach. The program promises to be a moving and inspiring one with special keynote speaker author and activist Norman G. Finkelstein, PhD.
KinderUSA is the leading, longest operating American Muslim Charity organization working on behalf of the health and well-being of Palestinian children. It improves the lives of Palestinian children through development and emergency relief by focusing on the needs of children and their families.
KinderUSA was founded ten years ago by a group of concerned humanitarians and physicians. Since then, it has endured much adversity and numerous challenges, but continues to survive and has impacted over 600,000 children and their families through its programs in Palestine and Lebanon.
"Join us in the celebration of the Palestinian child, because that's what this is really about, it's about nothing more than giving those kids a chance for a better future," said Dr. Laila Al-Marayati, Co-Founder and Chairperson of KinderUSA, "and whatever part we can play in that is a part worth playing."
This year's annual fundraising dinner celebrates ten years of giving, and supports two of KinderUSA's year-long projects:
The Farmer's Project enables impoverished farmers to work their lands, feed their children, while providing nutritious fresh foods to families throughout Gaza.
The Women's Cooperative in Gaza and the West Bank provides mothers who are heads of household with skills to prepare and market their own dairy products used in our annual Ramadan food baskets and further the nourishment of the community.
"I think everyone who comes will walk out informed and inspired as well," said Maher Hathout, PhD. and Islamic Scholar, "you will listen to perspectives that you will not hear on CNN or the official media that is always giving us our narrative. It's about time to hear the narrative coming from ourselves to ourselves. And this is the first step to doing something effective vis a vis this tragedy."
