This certification provides SMBs, independent software vendors (ISVs) and service providers (SPs) with the industry's first certified online backup service that backs up open or "in-use" files for legacy applications and non-Microsoft VSS aware applications.

Traditionally, backing up critical business data, such as Outlook™ .PST (the file that contains email, calendar and contact user data) and QuickBooks™ .QEW (the backup file that is critical for restoring business accounting files) has been problematic for SMBs and SPs. In order for backup software to successfully capture this critical data, these types of programs must be closed.

In the past, IT administrators have scheduled backup processes to occur during off-hours when the network and its users were not utilizing the data, thus alleviating the issue of incomplete backups.
