Kitchen Magic Ranked Among Top Workplaces in the Lehigh Valley, Company President Brett Bacho Wins Top Leadership Award

NAZARETH, Pa., March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, Nazareth, Pa. based Kitchen Magic has been ranked among the Top Workplaces in the Lehigh Valley.  The company is ranked ninth among mid-size businesses and one of only 12 Lehigh Valley area companies to have been awarded this distinction two years in a row.

Kitchen Magic President, Brett Bacho was also awarded the Top Leadership Award for mid-size businesses. Employee comments about Bacho's character as a leader included, "Brett is always challenging us to look at ways to improve... He always strives to find something new to afford us growth despite our hesitation in an ever-changing economic environment... He focuses on what someone does well and does not seek to find fault in people...He is not afraid of change." 

The Morning Call partnered with Workplace Dynamics, an employee survey firm, to determine the region's Top Workplaces. Workplace Dynamics went straight to the experts: the employees.

In June, The Morning Call began advertising for employees in the region to nominate their companies as Top Workplaces; 11,125 Lehigh Valley employees received questionnaires, 6,785 of whom responded.

The survey included 22 questions and covered factors such as how employees feel about their day-to-day jobs, pay and benefits, company management, company direction, their connection to the company, feeling that their work is meaningful and that their efforts are appreciated. The survey also measured retention and motivation.

Interestingly, "connection" proved the single most important factor while "pay and benefits" was least important. While money is important, it does not create a good workplace out of a bad one.

Employers were categorized into size bands small, medium and large, and ranked within their size band based solely on employee responses.  The top employers in each size band were then selected as the Top Workplaces in Lehigh Valley for 2014.

Kitchen Magic, now in its 35th year, is the largest specialty kitchen remodeling company in the Northeast. In 2013 the firm was named the Top Kitchen Company Nationwide, by Qualified Remodeler Magazine. Kitchen Magic serves the eastern seaboard from Delaware to New Hampshire.  They recently began operations in South Carolina and Alabama as well. Founded in 1979 by Jost and Reine Fleck, the company continues to be family owned and operated, now in the second generation.
