Kmart® Launches New Pet Prescription Program And Purina® Treat Giveaway

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To the delight of shoppers and pet lovers everywhere, Kmart announces a new pet medication program that provides customers convenient access and savings for prescription brand name and generic pet medications that help ensure the health of their pets.

More than 60 percent of American households own a pet(i) and together they spent more than $50 billion on their pets in 2011 alone(ii), according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA). Kmart understands that a pet is a member of the family too and by offering affordable pet prescriptions in-store, the retailer is helping customers save and making shopping for the entire family more convenient than ever.

In addition to this new program, Kmart is also celebrating National Pet Month by rewarding four-legged friends with a free Purina treat. By purchasing a pet medication at any Kmart Pharmacy from April 29 through May 26, customers will receive a free(iii) Purina Beneful Baked Delight or Purina Cat Treat (up to $3.99 value). Pet owners shopping at non-pharmacy Kmart locations will be rewarded with a treat too, simply by spending $20 on Purina products.
