Kolot HaLev To Present My Soul Longs for You, Choir Music from Russia and the Ukraine During Washington Jewish Music Festival

CHEVY CHASE, Md., April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kolot HaLev, the Jewish Community Choir of Greater Washington announced it is dedicating its 6th Anniversary Concert on June 8, 2014 to Jewish music from Russia and the Ukraine. Entitled My Soul Longs for You, this concert will showcase Russia's lasting impact on Jewish music by featuring popular, religious and klezmer melodies sung during Imperial, Soviet and modern times.

A timely pre-concert talk on the Ukrainian Crisis' impact on Jews now living in the former Soviet Union will be held by NCSJ: Advocates on behalf of Jews in Russia,Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia.

My Soul Longs For You is being co-sponsored by DC-JCC's Washington Jewish Music Festival, the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington and NCSJ: Advocates on behalf of Jews in Russia,Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia.

Joining Kolot HaLev is Cantor Natasha Jitomirskaia Hirschhorn, Ukraine born, and an ensemble of excellent instrumentalists.

My Soul Longs for You begins at 4:00 pm on June 8, 2014, at Ohr Kodesh Congregation, 8300 Meadowbrook Ln., Chevy Chase, MD 20815. The pre-concert session will begin promptly at 3:30 pm.

Tickets for the concert are $18 for adults when ordered on-line at www.kolothalev.org or $20 when purchased at the door. Admission for students and children is $6.00.

Kolot HaLev is a Washington, DC area community chorus where singers can develop musically and enhance their knowledge and love for Judaism. Kolot HaLev is in residence at Shirat HaNefesh, and sings a wide variety of traditional and modern liturgical music at Shirat HaNefesh services on the second Friday of the month and other days of celebration.
