kVA Hosts Four-Day IEC 61508 Training and Certification Workshop

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Functional safety engineering group, kVA, gears up for a new training and certification workshop offered this fall in Los Angeles, CA. The event is scheduled to take place September 8-11. An optional certification exam will be held on Friday, September 12.  The training material is developed by kVA's partner TUV-Nord, a global leader in safety assurance processes.

The event is designed for industrial OEMs and suppliers, specifically engineers working with safety-critical electronic systems and technologies. The training provides a comprehensive and detailed view of the IEC 61508 standard, with several practical examples presented within the training sessions. The training is provided in the English language by kVA's U.S.-based training staff.  Every member of the kVA training staff is a Functional Safety Certified Engineer.

During the four-day training session, attendees will receive an Excel-based FMEDA-Workbench tool for IEC 61508 calculations and a hard copy manual providing insight into its implications and requirements for functional safety in a wide variety of industrial applications. Evaluation of safety goals and hardware architecture, software implementation and functional safety concept development will be the primary topics of discussion throughout the event.
