LA Fitness Expands In Southern Ontario With The Opening Of Two New Locations In The Greater Toronto Area And One In London

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 12, 2012  LA Fitness, one of the fastest growing health club chains in Canada and the U.S., is pleased to announce it will open new locations in the Greater Toronto Area and one in London this winter. LA Fitness is investing $8.8 million on facility remodels and equipment to create state-of-the-art clubs that will feature a wide range of amenities and easy access for area residents. Presale offers are now available for the clubs, which will open in late-December with grand opening events planned for next February.

"Ontario and especially the Greater Toronto Area have been great markets for our clubs, and the community has been incredibly supportive of our growth," said Bill Horner, Senior Vice President/Chief Real Estate Officer of LA Fitness. "We want residents of Milton, Oshawa and London to have convenient, comfortable environments where they can choose from a variety of activities to achieve their personal fitness goals."

LA Fitness has 14 locations throughout Ontario primarily concentrated in the Greater Toronto Area. "Whether they're looking for a clean, welcoming, well-equipped club for their daily workout, a group fitness class, or the one-on-one guidance of a personal trainer, our affordable monthly memberships provide something for everyone," added Horner.

The company's model has been very well received, and based on our past success working together, we felt they would be the ideal partner for these retail spaces," said Edward Sonshine, Chief Executive Officer at RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, that owns and manages the shopping centers where the clubs are located.

The clubs will offer the following amenities, most of which are included in the monthly membership fee, that meet the needs of people of all ages, interests and fitness goals:

• Cardio areas designed for comfort and well-equipped with a broad array of machines
• Three-lane lap pool and dry sauna
• Separate studios for group fitness classes such as Kickbox Cardio and yoga
• Cycling rooms
• Spacious locker rooms and showers
• Free weights and circuit equipment
• Personal training (for an additional charge)
• Kids Klub babysitting (for an additional charge)

Milton and Oshawa clubs will also have aerobics pools. In addition, the Oshawa club will feature a whirlpool spa, basketball court, running track and juice bar.

Construction on all three new LA Fitness clubs began in September. When complete, the clubs will create a total of approximately 180 new jobs, including full-time and part-time positions, and not including those generated during construction.
