Land O'Lakes Donates 40,000 Pounds of Macaroni & Cheese to Second Harvest Heartland

ST. PAUL, Minn., June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Land O'Lakes, Inc. donated 40,000 pounds of LAND O LAKES^® Reduced Fat Macaroni and Cheese Entree with Whole Grain to Second Harvest Heartland.

This is the Land O'Lakes First Run Program's 100^th donation since it was established in 2010. The program is committed to donating truckloads of fresh product year round, made specifically for food banks to help alleviate hunger nationwide.

"Land O'Lakes and Second Harvest Heartland's partnership goes beyond products donated, and also includes significant financial support and employee volunteerism," said Rob Zeaske, CEO, Second Harvest Heartland. "Thank you to Land O'Lakes and all of your employees for your generosity and support."

According to Heather Olson, director of corporate partnerships for Second Harvest Heartland, the donation will help put 33,000 meals on tables throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

More donations will occur this summer, a time of great need for kids who can't count on free breakfast and lunch at school. Later this month, Land O'Lakes will send another truck with 40,000 lbs. of macaroni and cheese to Roadrunner Food Bank in New Mexico, our program's 33^rd donation state. Before the end of June, the cooperative will donate 40,000 lbs. of macaroni and cheese to both Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
