ATLANTA, June 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Landis+Gyr, the global leader in transforming how energy is delivered and managed, has been named a 2017 Grid Edge Award winner by Greentech Media. Representatives from the company accepted the award during the Grid Edge World Forum on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in San Jose, California.

The Alpharetta headquartered business for the Americas, was selected as a 2017 winner for an innovative project that combines home-level distributed computing with an intelligent network of devices, to better control the home's energy usage based on both the needs of the home owner and the local electricity grid. Designed and deployed in partnership with a large Southwest utility, the application runs on consumers' energy meter, continuously monitoring usage and forecasting future demand, while providing real-time autonomous management of loads such as HVAC, electric water heaters and pool pumps. The project provides customers with an automated tool that resulted in reduced energy consumption and lower utility bills.
