Lands' End and the National Coalition for the Homeless Call Upon Americans to Share the Warmth During National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
Families and individuals in need to receive warm coats, buy a coat or become a Facebook fan and Lands' End will donate $1 to help bring an end to homelessness
DODGEVILLE, Wis., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a startling fact: Each year 3.5 million men, women and kids experience homelessness. As a corporate partner of the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), Lands' End is stepping up once again and encouraging others to take action that will share the warmth and help bring an end to homelessness.

During National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 14-20) Lands' End will donate $1 (up to $25,000) for each coat purchased on Monday, Nov. 15 at landsend.com to the NCH. In addition, Lands' End will donate $1 (up to $10,000) for each new Facebook fan between November 16-19 – for a total donation of up to $35,000 to the NCH.
"Through their generous donation as our corporate partner, Lands' End and its customers are helping bring an end to homelessness. The donation will set us on the path to realize the challenge put forth by the U.S. Congress; to show how constituents such as Lands' End can contribute to reducing and ending homelessness in America," said Neil Donovan, executive director, National Coalition for the Homeless. "We are asking all Americans to join in during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week to be a part of the solution by donating to the NCH on our Web site, nationalhomeless.org."
Coat Drives in New York and Lands' End Headquarters
To kick off the donation, Lands' End and representatives of the National Coalition for the Homeless will be collecting coats during the morning of Monday, Nov. 15 outside the General Motors Building in "The CBS Early Show" plaza between 59th St. and 5th Ave., New York. Thousands of Lands' End employees will also be doing their part by donating coats at the company headquarters in Wisconsin in November.
"Last year, Lands' End conducted the Big Warm Up – a nationwide coat drive where we gathered more than 33,000 coats for men, women and kids in need," said Susan Sachatello, chief marketing officer, Lands' End. "We're excited to tap our expertise in sharing warmth again this year by supporting the National Coalition for the Homeless during this national awareness week."
