Leading STB Manufacturer Justek Partners with iWedia to Provide the World's First Android 5.1 Hybrid UHD STB Featuring HbbTV 2.0

iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and consumer electronics manufacturers, today announced it has been selected by Shenzhen-based leading STB manufacturer Justek Technology Co., Ltd. to provide the HbbTV 2.0 browser of its Android 5.1 hybrid UHD set-top box.

The announcement was made at IBC 2016, which is being held in Amsterdam from Friday, September 9th through to Tuesday, September 13th. Both Justek (hall 14, booth J01) and iWedia (hall 5, booth B40) exhibit at the show.

To target the European market, Justek will add support to HbbTV 2.0 to its Android 5.1 hybrid UHD HEVC (4Kp60) STB in integrating iWedia's browser.

HbbTV 2.0 enhances the previous specification with support to HTML5, HEVC, TTML, MPEG DASH (DVB profile), and CI Plus v1.4. It also introduces companion screens features, synchronization of applications and contents across devices, push VoD, etc.

A member of the HbbTV Association, iWedia has been involved in the specification of the standard since its inception and its HbbTV 1.5 implementation has been widely deployed by major TV set and STB manufacturers.

iWedia has upgraded its HbbTV browser towards 2.0. The solution is proposed as a standalone software component bundled with the Blink Web browser and is available for Linux and Android.

This component may be complemented with other software components of iWedia's product portfolio: MPEG DASH and HLS client software, TTML engine, CI Plus v1.4 host software.

Efficient porting, integration and validation processes are precisely defined. The component is accompanied with comprehensive documentations and testing tools.
