Lee Krystinik Assumes Presidency of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists

Three additional AAPG members voted in to serve on association's executive committee.

TULSA, Okla., July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) announced today that longtime Association member Lee Krystinik has assumed the role of president effective July 1.  In his new role, Krystinik will serve a one-year term and lead AAPG's executive committee, which acts as the Association's board of directors.  The executive committee maintains general executive control and management of the affairs and funds of AAPG, with sole responsibility and authority for all internal and external matters.

Krystinik is the principal and founder of Fossil Creek Resources in Arlington, Texas.  He earned his Ph.D. in geology in 1981 from Princeton University and began his career that same year as a research geologist for the U.S. Geological Survey.  Over the years Krystinik served in various geological positions for Reservoirs Inc., Union Pacific Resources, Krystinik Litho-logic, and finally ConocoPhillips before founding Fossil Creek Resources in 2006.  Krystinik joined the AAPG in 1978, where he served in numerous positions, including a distinguished lecturer both domestically and abroad.

Randi Martinsen, a senior lecturer-petroleum geology at the University of Wyoming, Laramie, was voted president-elect.  Martinsen will serve as president of the association in 2014-2015.

New executive committee members include John Kaldi, elected regions vice president and a professor at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide, Australia; Richard W. Ball, elected secretary, and development geologist-Angola for Chevron; and Michael Sweet, elected editor, with ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company, Houston.  They join Thomas E. Ewing, executive committee vice president-sections; Deborah K. Sacrey, treasurer; and Larry Wickstrom, chair of AAPG's House of Delegates.
