Leica Gallery Boston Presents Days Go By…, Featuring Sara Messinger and Adali Schell

A dual exhibition explores the fleeting passage between adolescence and adulthood through the work of two next-generation Leica photographers.

BOSTON, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Leica Gallery Boston is pleased to announce Days Go By…, a duo exhibition featuring photographers Sara Messinger and Adali Schell, opening October 23rd and on view through January 3rd, 2027.

The exhibition introduces Boston to two of the medium's most compelling next-generation voices, and celebrates how contemporary photographers are using Leica's M-System of analog cameras to define new forms of storytelling.

Messinger's photographs are presented as archival pigment prints produced by Whitewall, while Schell's chromogenic prints are hand-printed and framed by the artist himself.

Days Go By… brings into conversation two projects that explore the fleeting moments between adolescence and adulthood. Across opposite coasts, both photographers document this period of transition within the landscape of their respective homes, New York and Los Angeles. Messinger follows a group of teenagers through public parks and other spaces outside of school or home, where, unencumbered, they explore, experiment, and socialize. Schell documents this time in his life, focusing on the car as a space for independence, autonomy, and connection. Though their photographs are distinct, both Messinger's and Schell's images are enmeshed in their own experiences. Here, the photograph becomes a means for understanding oneself, a self-portrait of sorts. Together, they build a tender reverence for the intimacy and uncertainty that comes with growing up.

Both artists have exhibited across Leica Galleries domestically, and continue to participate in activations that support the brand's legacy and its connection to emerging generations and new forms of storytelling.

Leica Gallery Boston will host an opening reception on Friday, October 23rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, inviting guests to experience Days Go By… in person.

As part of the exhibition program, Leica Gallery Boston will also be hosting an Artist Talk with Sara Messinger and Adali Schell on Saturday, October 24th, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
