Leland Little's Week of Signature Auctions Achieves Strong Results

The week began Tuesday, September 8, with a well-attended preview event, offering collectors the opportunity to connect with department directors and experience works firsthand. The following night, the Signature Week Lecture Series drew a notable audience for a program exploring the life and legacy of Bunny Mellon. Across Fine Art, Fine Jewelry, and Decorative Art, the auctions realized $1.2 million, reflecting continued collector engagement across the week's sales.

The Fine Art Auction saw strong interest across a diverse selection of works. Arturo Nathan's evocative La nave naufragata led the auction at $30,000 (all prices include the buyer's premium). Virginia Berresford's striking Glacier followed at $24,000, while North Carolina artist John Beerman's atmospheric Door County, Morning realized $20,400.

The Fine Jewelry Auction continued the week's momentum with enthusiastic bidding for distinctive antique and designer pieces. An antique platinum ring centered by a 3.69 carat old mine cut diamond and accented with sapphires achieved $19,200. A vintage gold, platinum, and diamond bracelet realized $15,000, while a sculptural Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. gold, platinum, diamond, and ruby Ibex motif brooch brought $13,200.

The Decorative Art Auction offered works of exceptional design and craftsmanship. A Tiffany Studios Nautilus Leaded Glass Table Lamp led the auction at $33,600, while Dave McGary's dynamic bronze Point of No Return, Masterwork achieved $28,800. Arthur Wilhelm Otto Lewin-Funcke's bronze Mother rounded out the notable results, realizing $10,200.
