LEXION Medical Continues to Receive Recognition for Innovative Technologies
SAINT PAUL, Minn., Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) has selected the Insuflow® Synergy®, a Minimally Invasive Surgical Port technology developed by LEXION Medical, an international medical device company, as 2013 Innovation of the Year. The honor was presented to Douglas Ott, MD, LEXION's Chief Medical Officer during the SLS Minimally Invasive Surgery Week Annual Meeting on August 28 in Reston, VA.
Insuflow® Synergy®, a recently patented FDA-cleared device, is designed to dramatically reduce post-operative pain and recovery for patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery. The Insuflow® technology has been proven for millions of patients over the past decade. The Synergy® entry system conditions gas put into the abdomen during laparoscopic surgery and provides instrument access with enhanced gas flow reducing surgical time, hypothermia, post-operative pain, postoperative nausea and shortens recovery time. The Insuflow® Synergy® device can be used during any laparoscopic procedure (robotic, urology, gynecology, bariatric and general surgery) allowing maintenance of operative stability during the procedure and promoting beneficial improved outcomes and satisfaction for the patient.
In addition to these clinical benefits, visualization during surgery is significantly improved. Charles Miller, MD, FACOG of The Advanced Gynecologic Surgery Institute, is a long time user of Insuflow® technology: "I have found that Insuflow® Synergy® has absolutely improved visualization. As a surgeon, I remained focused to the task and have thus seen decrease in my operative time."
"It's truly an honor for Insuflow® Synergy® to be recognized by SLS as a surgical innovation for 2013," said Patrick Spearman, LEXION Medical's CEO. "Surgeons and healthcare providers are always interested in real technology that can result in reduced surgical time, faster recovery, reduced pain and post-operative complications."
Dr. Joseph Kuhn, MD, FACS, who has used Insuflow® Synergy® during hundreds of cases at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX, stated, "This device has consistently proven that it can deliver reliable and effective outcomes for the challenges in bariatric laparoscopy. Synergy® is very useful in reducing surgical time, maintaining an optimal gas flow, and reducing post-operative complications through humidified gas."
