Gastroenterology Practices Can Go to Same-Week Video Visit Access for Hepatology Patients with the LiverRight National Virtual Clinic

CINCINNATI, April 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the American Liver Foundation, there are more than 75 million American adults who are living with some form of Steatotic Liver Disease ("SLD" including ALD, MASLD, MASH), and have not been diagnosed. Over time, a significant share of these patients will develop cirrhosis or liver cancer, and possibly require a transplant.

Current efforts to treat Liver Disease are plagued by two challenges: too few hepatologists to screen and treat patients (estimated 1 for 40,000 patients), and too few liver scanning devices to evaluate them (estimated 1,500 sites in the entire US today).

Today, LiverRight™, America's first virtual specialty clinic for hepatology, announces a new program to support gastroenterology practices that seek to treat SLD patients. LiverRight Extend™ will allow GI practices to provide same-week telemedicine triage to adult patients with Steatotic Liver Disease risk factors, under the GI practice's brand.

A state-licensed LiverRight hepatology provider will see patients via convenient video visits within the week after the request. For diagnosis, the GI practice will have an ultrasound liver scanning device, where the patient will go for the first and any subsequent scans. LiverRight has the capacity to read all scans same-day, and stage the patients.

If a patient has low or high acuity liver disease (Hepatitis or Fatty Liver Disease), LiverRight will either refer the patient back to the practice for in-person treatment or continue to manage the patient longitudinally via video visits, all documented in the GI partner's EMR.
