COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The IPSO Alliance, the organization defining the "Internet of Things," today announced that Lockheed Martin has become a promoter member of the IPSO Alliance.
"Collaborating with the IPSO Alliance will help ensure cross-vendor interoperability as well as promote greater use of IP-based Smart Grid solutions," said Larry Easton, director, Ventures for Information Systems and Global Solutions-Defense, Lockheed Martin. "IP has proven itself as a stable, reliable and scalable technology and we believe that Internet Protocol for smart objects will enable new functionality for mission critical applications."
Lockheed Martin's SEEsuite Smart Grid Command and Control™ platform integrates IP-based and legacy systems to give utilities, system operators and customers unprecedented control over their smart grid assets. SEEsuite combines Lockheed Martin's expertise in systems-of-systems integration, service oriented architectures, cyber security and mission-critical systems development with utility-specific functionality.
"We look forward to working with Lockheed Martin on their efforts to promote IP-based Smart Grid applications," said Geoff Mulligan, chairman of the IPSO Alliance. "This type of commitment continues to promote greater interoperability and reliability, and solidifies our mission to make 'The Internet of Things' a reality."
As a promoter member Lockheed Martin may participate in meetings and committees, use the Alliance's technical guidelines and case studies; demonstrate their products at meetings, trade shows and other Alliance events. They also will be able to qualify their products and services in the interoperability program.
