The building's history dates back to 1905, when it opened as home to The Lambs – America's first professional theatrical club – and quickly established itself as the de facto capital of American theater.  More recently, under the direction of master architect and designer Thierry Despont, the structure has been meticulously restored and modernized as a 76-room hotel that melds traditional glamour and contemporary luxury.  The Chatwal New York is part of the Starwood Luxury Collection and is managed by Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, LLC.
