Los Angeles Jury Awards $4.537 Million to Motorcyclist Injured in Palmdale Collision Caused by Unsafe U-Turn

LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A Los Angeles County jury has awarded $4.537 million to a motorcyclist who suffered catastrophic orthopedic injuries after being struck by a Ford F-350 in a collision that occurred near the SR-14 onramp in Palmdale, CA.

This was a tremendous verdict obtained in a heavily disputed matter that took nearly five years to take to trial; the collision occurred in September, 2020. The plaintiff, represented by the PARRIS Law Firm, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Avenue S when the defendant made an unsafe lane change in an attempt to execute a U-turn. The maneuver forced the plaintiff to collide directly with the truck, catapulting him over the handlebars and onto the pavement.

Due to this crash, the plaintiff sustained multiple traumatic injuries, including compound forearm fractures, a shattered elbow requiring radial head replacement, and chronic shoulder damage that led to subsequent surgery. Despite undergoing extensive rehabilitation, the plaintiff continues to live with daily pain, limited mobility, and post-traumatic arthritis in multiple joints.

Testimony from treating physicians confirmed the plaintiff will suffer from lifelong complications stemming from the crash.
