Hirshfeld, an attorney for nearly 25 years, focuses his practice on advising licensed health care providers and unlicensed entities in the business of health care, insurers and other third-party payors. He is adept in laws governing the corporate practice of medicine, fee-splitting, kickbacks, self-referrals, scope of practice and supervision, privacy, insurance, false claims, and health care marketing; as well as general laws governing business entities.
Over the past five years, Hirshfeld's concentration has been in the substance use disorder ("SUD") treatment sector. An original board member of the Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), he represented SUD treatment providers, physician groups, clinics, clinical labs, lab managers, marketing and lead generation companies, billing companies, and recovery residences; and occasionally advised private equity concerns, as well as other law firms.
In addition, he has served as full-time in-house counsel to several insurance companies, a health care marketing company, and an SUD treatment provider.
A resident of Tampa, Hirshfeld is licensed to practice in both Florida and New York. He received his bachelor of arts in literature from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri; and his J.D. from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in White Plains, New York.
