Malik's Quest for the Long March

GANZHOU, China, Oct. 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A report from Jiangxi International Communication Center (JXICC): 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. 92 years ago, the Central Red Army assembled and set off from the banks of the Yudu River, embarking on a great expedition that blazed new trails. 92 years later, Malik, a young man from Pakistan, came to Yudu County in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, tracing the Long March footprints to seek answers and understand what the Long March spirit means for today's China. The first stop, he visited the ferry crossing of the Yudu River, known as the First Ferry of the Long March. Here, he watched the live-action performance, learned to sing "Ten Farewells to the Red Army," and came to understand the Chinese people's firm belief in the Long March.

Next, he stepped into the Memorial Hall of the Central Red Army's Departure for the Long March. 92 years ago, in the late autumn of southern Jiangxi, the Central Red Army assembled and set off on the Long March. Local residents tore down door planks and bedboards from their own homes to build a pontoon bridges, and took turns standing guard, guarding the Red Army's secret. Malik trace the footprints and quested what exactly is the Long March spirit.

In the Memorial Hall of the Central Red Army's Departure for the Long March, a 25-meter-long relief wall left a deep impression on Malik. The 25-meter length, equal to 25,000 millimeters, symbolizes the 25,000-li Long March. Of the over 86,000 troops who embarked on the Long March, 50,000 soldiers were from southern Jiangxi. More than 40,000 of them sacrificed their lives. Over 30,000 are recorded as "Gone North, Never Heard From Again." Malik listened the solemn, stirring and great history of the Long March.

Also, an old hand-cranked sewing machine in the Memorial Hall caught Malik's eye. The sewing machine was far more than just a tool. It represented hope that they refused to abandon on the Long March. Over ninety years have passed, yet people in Yudu still work with threads and needles. Those old hand-cranked sewing machines of the past have evolved into factories, forming a100-billion-yuan textile and garment industry. The third stop, Malik came to the brand-new digital smart manufacturing workshop and experienced the new development of Yudu, Jiangxi.
