Marathon Listens to Customers, Brings Back U-Haul Affiliation

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn., Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brooklyn Center Marathon is once again offering U-Haul® trucks, trailers and towing equipment, cargo vans and more after enduring changes and making adjustments to its business.

Marathon is open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

Robert Bassil, owner of the service station, was a U-Haul neighborhood dealer until 2013 when changes to convenience store laws and regulations prompted him to drop that aspect of his business.

The opening of a nearby Wal-Mart® added some competition and enhanced Bassil's need to focus solely on the service station – something he figured would be easier without juggling U-Haul reservations. It wasn't long after he gave up his affiliation that the Brooklyn Center community voiced their displeasure.

Locals wanted their U-Haul equipment close to home and preferred the access Marathon offered.

"They asked me for it because they knew we had it before and they really wanted it back," Bassil said. "We are the only ones for about four miles that have U-Haul products."

Because there are so many apartments and schools in the area, people are moving in and out with regularity and need an accessible location for their supplies and equipment. Marathon is pleased to fill that void after listening to its customers.
