Marine Atlantic Inc. and the Public Service Alliance of Canada reach a collective agreement - Minister Leitch congratulates both parties
OTTAWA, March 24, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated Marine Atlantic Inc. and the Public Service Alliance of Canada on the renewal of their collective agreement.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). The FMCS provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.

- Marine Atlantic Inc. is a federal Crown corporation offering commercial and passenger ferry services between the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.
- The collective agreement covering 65 employees occupying supervisory positions expired on December 31, 2013.
- Over the last five years, more than 94 percent of collective agreements within the federal jurisdiction were settled without a work stoppage when the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service was involved.
