Mashable and Flixel Bring Cinemagraph Experiences to SXSW

Flixel creates cinemagraph photo studios for the 2016 SXSW Mashable House and MashBash

TORONTO, March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - Flixel Photos, a visual storytelling company that enables content creators to easily create living photos, has partnered with Mashable to host a series of cinemagraph experiences at Mashable House, the popular media brand's annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive activation. Flixel is creating custom cinemagraph photo studios for Mashable House and MashBash.

Mashable House is an annual destination for SXSW attendees, and this year the activation runs from March 11-13 at The Main (610 East 6th Street). The Flixel cinemagraph experience is glitch art – media that's been corrupted to look digitally altered. Mashable House guests will have the opportunity to pose with three glitch art sculptures of Bill Murray, the prayer hands emoji and a unicorn, and the Flixel team will animate the photo into a glitching cinemagraph which can be shared online.

Cinemagraphs have been named a top design and photography trend for 2016, blending photo and video together in a new content medium. In the past Flixel has created custom cinemagraph experiences for the Emmys, capturing Emmy winners including Peter Dinklage backstage at the 2015 awards, and for A&E at its 2015 upfront event, creating a Bates Motel set for attendees. Top celebrity photographer Michael Grecco will be shooting the cinemagraphs at Mashable House, and a full gallery of all cinemagraphs created at SXSW will be available in the Flixel Gallery.
