SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Massage Envy, the pioneer and national leader of professional, convenient and affordable massage and spa services, announced today the signing of its 1,000th franchise agreement. Regional Developers Nate McFarland and Lari Jarvis of Hawaii were awarded the agreement for their second clinic, which will join their Oahu location opening this summer.
"We're thrilled to be the ones to sign the 1,000th agreement with Massage Envy and look forward to bringing massage and spa services to Hawaii as early as this summer," said Nate McFarland. "Massage Envy is an incredible brand and we're not surprised that the company is growing at a rapid pace."
This incredible milestone is just one of many achievements for the company currently celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Massage Envy entered the new year with momentum after seeing a 13 percent increase in the opening of new clinics in 2011. The first quarter of 2012 has been a continuation of development success, with March setting a new record of 44 franchise agreements signed. Today, there are more than 760 Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa locations operating in 44 states, making it the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry.
"Massage Envy is a special brand evidenced by this rare milestone in franchising," said Massage Envy President and CEO Dave Crisalli. "There are thousands of franchise brands across the country, but only a small percentage ever reach the 1,000-unit mark. I could not be more proud of our franchise partners and all our team members who spend each day enriching the lives of others."
Innovation has been at the heart of Massage Envy since its inception in 2002, and the company continues to deliver on its mission to provide a pathway to wellness, well-being and worth through massage and skin care services. Massage Envy is the world's largest employer of licensed/registered massage therapists with more than 18,000 therapists providing over 250,000 massages every week to a total of more than 1.1 million members.
In 2007, the company launched the Massage Envy Spa to offer affordable, healthy skincare beyond traditional massage therapy. Massage Envy established an exclusive partnership with global skincare leader Murad®. With Murad, Massage Envy Spa customers benefit from facials and skincare products designed by one of the world's foremost leaders in skin health.
Over the next several years, Massage Envy is seeking to expand across the country with Massage Envy Spa leading the way in these development goals. To fuel this growth, the company is looking for specific franchisee candidates who have the ability and the desire to learn and follow a system that ensures value and customer satisfaction. Qualified franchisee candidates should have business sales or management experience, but do not necessarily need to have a massage therapy or spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000. Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa franchisees can expect their initial investment to range from approximately $343,000 to $568,000, including the franchisee fee.
