MaxWest Environmental Systems Makes Commitment to Clinton Global Initiative

SANFORD, Fla., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MaxWest Environmental Systems, Inc., the industry leader in biogasification systems for the wastewater treatment industry, was recognized on stage yesterday at the Clinton Global Initiative's (CGI) Seventh Annual Meeting in New York City for its Commitment to Action, "Landfill Reduction through Biosolids Processing." MaxWest's commitment was selected as an exemplary approach to addressing challenges in environment and energy. The company is pleased to announce that it will shortly implement the MaxWest Biogasification System at two new MaxWest facilities in the U.S. and China. This will avoid landfilling approximately 100,000 tons per year of biosolids waste, benefiting more than 376,000 people in the surrounding areas.

The MaxWest commitment includes the expansion of its operations through the construction of two facilities that process biosolids waste using the MaxWest Biogasification System, providing a sustainable method for the management of biosolids waste while avoiding landfilling the energy-rich material. The facilities in Maine, USA, and Guangdong Province, China, are expected to be commercially operational in the fourth quarter of 2012, supporting both permanent jobs at the facilities as well as temporary jobs during their construction.

MaxWest's first commercial-scale facility — in Sanford, Florida — offers a safe, cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to incineration, landfill or land application of biosolids. This proven technology captures the energy contained in biosolids and recycles it for use on site, while reducing the volume of the incoming material by over 90 percent. Prior to the MaxWest Biogasification System, there were almost no options to address the challenges of biosolids management in an environmentally sustainable manner.
