May 21st at 3:30pm Ribbon Cutting Scheduled: Maryland Wine House at Exit 9 on I-81 at Maugansville Exit, North of Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md., May 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Maryland Wine House is a new wine and liquor store that is open at the Maugansville Exit on I-81, just north of Hagerstown, Maryland. The official ribbon cutting for the new business is set for May 21st at 3:30pm.

Washington County Commissioners, local elected officials, and representatives from state officials are expected to attend. Local business leaders will also be joining the afternoon grand opening event.

The Maryland Wine House is a new and easily seen red building, with the Maryland colors on the roof. The retail part of the building is less than 10,000-square feet, and the business has plenty of room for parking. 

The Maryland Wine House has created a significant number of new jobs already and will be adding more employees moving forward. More than 40 full-time people will be employees when the project is fully operational. The new store's management team tout the Maryland Wine House as having a very large selection of competitively priced wine, beer, and spirits.

The facility broke ground in the fall of 2024 and is located near the Burger King and the Microtel Hotel, at 13721 Oliver Drive. The Class A liquor license for the project was approved by Washington County in October 2023, for Beer, Wine, and Liquor sales. The new Maryland Wine House is a welcome addition to the retail opportunities in Western Maryland.

According to Ben Rider, the owner of the new business, "This has been a long project in the making. We appreciate the assistance of local government and community leaders. We are also glad to stock local Maryland wines and spirits. This is the largest facility of its type in Western Maryland."

Merit Builders was the main contractor for the project, and several subcontractors were hired, along with a significant number of vendors and suppliers. The construction teams' work continued on the project through the winter months.
