CANNES, France, June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- McCann New York's "Fearless Girl" installation for State Street Global Advisors is a major award-winner at this week's 2017 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, claiming three Grand Prix Lions in Glass, Outdoor and PR; 4 Gold Lions in Outdoor, PR and 2 in Promo & Activation; and 2 Silver Lions in PR and Promo & Activation. The Glass Lion category recognizes work that implicitly or explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice through the conscious representation of gender in advertising. Additionally, McCann's "See What's Next" campaign for Microsoft won a Bronze Lion in Glass and its "TV Doctors of America" campaign for Cigna won a Gold in Health & Wellness, contributing to McCann Health's "Network of the Year" win at the 2017 Lions Health.
McCann New York's "Fearless Girl" statue was placed in New York City's Financial District on the day before International Women's Day on March 7, 2017, to celebrate the power of women in leadership and to drive awareness around State Street Global Advisors' innovative SHE ETF that invests in companies with a higher percentage of women on corporate boards.
"There's nothing more rewarding than creating a piece of work like Fearless Girl that lands with such force in culture, and then sparks a global dialogue," said McCann's North American Chief Creative Officer Eric Silver. "To see the creative community responding with so much enthusiasm for the work is truly gratifying and makes me proud to be part of an agency that's making meaningful work."
McCann's wins at Cannes follow a strong run of recent accolades including its New York agency being named the most effective agency by the 2017 North American Effie Awards, rising 12 spots from 2016; Agency of the Year at the One Show; Agency of the Year and Digital Agency of the Year at the ADC Annual Awards; and Agency of the Year at the International ANDY Awards.
