McCann Honored with Three Grand Prix Lions at Cannes Lions Festival
"Fearless Girl" Grand Prix Wins Include Glass Lion Recognizing Representation of Gender Issues in Advertising
CANNES, France, June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- McCann New York's "Fearless Girl" installation for State Street Global Advisors is a major award-winner at this week's 2017 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, claiming three Grand Prix Lions in Glass, Outdoor and PR; 4 Gold Lions in Outdoor, PR and 2 in Promo & Activation; and 2 Silver Lions in PR and Promo & Activation. The Glass Lion category recognizes work that implicitly or explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice through the conscious representation of gender in advertising. Additionally, McCann's "See What's Next" campaign for Microsoft won a Bronze Lion in Glass and its "TV Doctors of America" campaign for Cigna won a Gold in Health & Wellness, contributing to McCann Health's "Network of the Year" win at the 2017 Lions Health.
McCann New York's "Fearless Girl" statue was placed in New York City's Financial District on the day before International Women's Day on March 7, 2017, to celebrate the power of women in leadership and to drive awareness around State Street Global Advisors' innovative SHE ETF that invests in companies with a higher percentage of women on corporate boards.
