McDonald's® Perks Up The Greater Philadelphia Region With Free Coffee

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, McDonald's announced a second national Free Coffee Event, an opportunity for even more coffee lovers to enjoy a freshly brewed, rich and smooth tasting McCafe coffee.

From Sept. 16 to 29, guests can get a free small McCafe coffee during breakfast hours at participating McDonald's restaurants throughout the Philadelphia region. This event builds on McDonald's first-ever Free Coffee Event launched in March, where the company gave away millions of cups of free coffee during the two-week period.

"We're excited to share our coffee with customers – again. We saw great success during the first Free Coffee Event in March, so we are thrilled to give even more people a morning pick-me-up and the chance to enjoy McCafe coffee, on us," said John Durante, President, McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region Owner/Operator Association. "We hope that this event will continue to encourage people to try our signature, freshly brewed McCafe coffee."

To celebrate two additional weeks of free coffee, McDonald's of the Greater Philadelphia Region will be treating select Septa and PATCO riders to free McCafe coffee on their morning commutes. Street teams will be positioned at select, local stations between 7-9 a.m., on Sept. 16, 17 and 18, sampling the freshly brewed McCafe coffee.

Additionally, McDonald's is calling on people across the region to share their #McCafeMoments on social media, with @McDPhilly. Prizes will be distributed to anyone who shares photos of them enjoying their morning brew, using #McCafeMoments. Beginning Sept. 16, fans can nominate their office to win McCafe coffee for their entire office and on Sept. 29 @McDPhilly is giving away free coffee for a year, every hour.

McDonald's first launched its McCafe line in the U.S. in 2009. The collection included McCafe signature blend coffee and quickly expanded to include iced coffees, espresso-based drinks, such as lattes and mochas, blended-ice beverages including smoothies and frappes as well as limited-time seasonal offerings.  McCafe fans in the Greater Philadelphia Region, and nationwide, will soon be able to enjoy their coffee whenever they want, including at home. McDonald's recently announced a collaboration with Kraft Foods Group, Inc. to offer a variety of McCafe ground, whole bean and single cup coffees in grocery stores and other retailers nationwide starting in early 2015.
