May 18, 2011, 14:36 ET from McGuireWoods LLP

HOUSTON, May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McGuireWoods LLP partner David Ronn will compete Thursday, May 19, 2011, in the fifth annual Battle of the Business Bands at the House of Blues in Houston. His rock band, Backspace, is one of six groups selected to play in the show, which will begin at 6 p.m., following the Houston Business Journal's 2011 "40 Under 40" awards program.

The bands, led by CEOs and executives of Houston-based companies, will be judged by a team of local executives and disc jockeys. The audience will then vote for their favorite band after the six performances.

"We are honored to have been selected to compete in the show tomorrow," said Ronn, who has more than 20 years experience in a wide range of corporate and securities matters, with concentrations in the energy and technology industries. "This competition offers a rare opportunity for lawyers to indulge other passions in life."

Backspace formed in 2007 as a group of like-minded lawyers. In addition to Ronn (bass, vocals, keyboards and alto sax), members include Nick Grimmer (guitar, vocals and drums) and Chris Payne (vocals, percussion and guitar), both litigation associates at Greenberg Traurig; Neil Verma (drums and percussion), a corporate associate at Greenberg Traurig; and Bob Rapfogel (guitar, bass and harmonica), a partner at Rapfogel Taylor.
