NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US announced today that Michael Spielman has joined PwC US as a tax partner in PwC's Personal Financial Services practice within the Private Company Services group in the New York market. Based in New York City, Spielman brings over 15 years of experience to his work with individual clients, including family business owners, corporate executives, financial services clients and other high net worth individuals, and will focus on expanding the practice's global footprint.

Prior to joining PwC, Spielman served as Americas Leader for Individual Global Tax Planning at Ernst & Young. Previously, Spielman was a practicing tax attorney for more than a decade and started his career as an attorney adviser to Judge Renato Beghe in the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C., where he drafted opinions for estate and gift tax controversies.

Specializing in domestic and international private client income and wealth transfer taxation and compliance, Spielman also has extensive experience in domestic and international inbound mergers and acquisitions tax matters for public and private equity clients. He is widely published, most notably as the author of US International Estate Planning (WG&L Thomson Reuters), a leading tax and legal treatise for tax advisors on cross-border income and transfer tax planning for U.S. residents and nonresidents with U.S. connections. Spielman is a frequent conference speaker, and has also taught taxation as an adjunct professor of law and accountancy.
Spielman chairs the International Tax Planning Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) in New York, the District of Columbia and Ohio, and is admitted to the bar in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, New York and Ohio. He received his A.B. in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis, his M.B.A., Beta Gamma Sigma, and J.D., magna cum laude, and Order of the Coif from Case Western Reserve University, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. After his re-location to New York from Washington, D.C., Spielman will reside in Greenwich, CT.
