Michael Harris Named The Washington Times Sports Editor

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Washington Times announced the appointment of Michael J. Harris as sports editor for the paper and washingtontimes.com.  He will guide the development and return of The Washington Times' highly acclaimed sports section.

Harris was previously sports editor at The Richmond News Leader and The Richmond Times-Dispatch.  He also served as an editor at cbssports.com and AOL FanHouse.

"Our goal is to make sports in The Washington Times and on washingtontimes.com exciting and informative every day," said Harris, a native of Fairfax County.  Harris graduated from James Madison High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. 

During his days as a reporter at The Richmond News Leader and Times-Dispatch, he covered sports events including the Daytona 500, the World Series and the Olympics.  He became an assistant sports editor in 2003 and sports editor in 2006.
