MicroTech Wins Major Contracts

TYSONS CORNER, Va., Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nationally recognized Services Provider and Technology Integrator, MicroTech, recently reaffirmed their presence in the government contracting arena with two major federal agency contract awards.

MicroTech was awarded a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Large Data Object Storage (LDOS) Agreement to provide the federal agency critical capability through a Storage as a Service model. DISA originally awarded this as a $45M sole source contract to another contractor in April with the justification that they were the only company able to provide the required technology.

MicroTech, teamed with SGI and Cisco, immediately provided a capabilities statement followed by a collaborative meeting with DISA's technical team and demonstrated that MicroTech indeed could provide a technology solution that could meet and surpass their requirements. As a result, DISA pulled back the sole source award, and conducted another competition, resulting in MicroTech and three other companies winning the contract.

This award is MicroTech's first major "Storage as a Service" contract. The objective of the contract is to provide reliable, responsive, and cost effective LDOS services and flexible pricing options while also offering volume discounts for quantity tiers of storage. Through this contract MicroTech will be providing DISA a dynamic and scalable storage environment supplied on a per demand basis. In addition to the raw storage, MicroTech will also be managing the LDOS environment, meeting both performance objectives for current operational data objects and cost effectiveness objectives for the total LDOS service.

This week MicroTech was also awarded a major 5-year, $6B contract with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) for Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program Tools and Continuous Monitoring as a Service Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). This proposal was a combined effort between MicroTech and major partner CA Technologies.

Through competed task orders, MicroTech will be providing continuous monitoring, diagnosis, and mitigation activities designed to strengthen the security posture of the federal .gov networks. Under this program, DHS will centrally oversee the procurement, operations, and maintenance of deployed diagnostic sensors. Using input from the sensors and agency-level dashboards, officials will be able to quickly identify system problems and empower technical managers to prioritize corrective actions and mitigate risks.

CA Technologies is integral in the solution which provides federal agencies and state and local governments with the ability to enhance and automate existing continuous network monitoring capabilities, correlate and analyze critical security-related information, and strengthen risk-based decision-making at the agency and federal enterprise level.
