Mirixa to Support CDPHP®'s MTM Service Delivery

RESTON, Va., Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mirixa Corporation is pleased to announce Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) will be using MirixaPro(SM), a Web-based clinical platform supporting the delivery of standardized, pharmacy-based patient care services, for the provision of medication therapy management (MTM) services to CDPHP's Medicare Part D members.  In addition, CDPHP will support its Medical Home patient members with MTM services using MirixaPro.

CDPHP has contracted with local pharmacists along with several local pharmacy chains that will conduct the MTM services and document them in MirixaPro.

CDPHP recognizes the value MTM services provide in educating patients on their medications and engaging patients in the management of their health. Lisa Passino, RPh and Medication Therapy Management Service Leader explains, "We see great value in the cognitive and clinical services pharmacists are able to provide to patients.  As a result, we are deploying MTM services beyond members who qualify based on CMS requirements and are using it as part of our expanded support of our medical home."

CDPHP engaged in a competitive bid process for the selection of a technology and services provider to support MTM.  "Our community of consultant pharmacists suggested that we consider the Mirixa platform for MTM service documentation because they found it to be easy to use and organized in a way similar to how pharmacists work and think, " recalls Lisa Passino.  "The goal of our MTM program is to focus the pharmacist's time and effort on consulting with the patient to make solid clinical and financial recommendations.  To accomplish this we needed a supporting tool that would make the documentation process easy and the identification of issues straightforward."
