Mississippi Power Names Jamie Miller Senior Director of Economic, Workforce and Community Development

New leadership role aligns economic growth, workforce development and community investment to support Mississippi's future

GULFPORT, Miss., Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Mississippi Power today announced that Jamie M. Miller has been named senior director of Economic, Workforce and Community development, a newly expanded leadership role that reflects the company's commitment to helping communities grow, businesses succeed and Mississippi prosper.

The new role brings together Mississippi Power's economic development, workforce development, community development and philanthropic efforts under a single leader, creating greater alignment around initiatives that support job creation, workforce readiness, community investment and long-term economic growth across the state. The position will report directly to Pedro Cherry, president and CEO of Mississippi Power.

Miller joins Mississippi Power after serving as president and CEO of the Gulf Coast Business Council, where he led regional initiatives focused on economic competitiveness, workforce development, innovation and quality of place. Selected in 2022 as the Council's fourth chief executive, he helped align private-sector, government and community leaders around priorities that strengthen Coastal Mississippi.

A nearly three-decade leader in public policy and economic and community development, Miller's career has included leadership roles at the local, state and federal levels. His experience spans municipal planning, post-Katrina recovery efforts, service as a congressional chief of staff, leadership of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and service on the executive leadership team of the Mississippi Development Authority.
