MIT Enterprise Forum Northwest to Host Science Fiction: Catalyst for Reality Event
SEATTLE, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MIT Enterprise Forum Northwest announces "Science Fiction, Catalyst for Reality," a program featuring award-winning authors and technology visionaries in a deep exploration of the intersection between science fiction and reality. The event will be held at Microsoft's Redmond campus on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
The evening begins with a fireside chat featuring Jason Pontin, editor-in-chief and publisher of MIT Technology Review and its special science fiction anthology, Twelve Tomorrows. Along with nationally-renowned authors and visionaries Greg Bear and Nancy Kress, participants will explore science fiction's awe-inspiring vision of the future and its impact on reality.
Prominent University of Washington scientist and professor of bioengineering Paul Yager will also be participating. Yager, whose research includes low-cost diagnostic technologies, credits science fiction with influencing his work.
The evening will conclude with a presentation by Microsoft's Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft Applications and Services Division, Rick Rashid, about executing the vision and turning science fiction into reality.
